Mr. Hamilton has always had a soft spot for helping people, therefore he uses his vast experience to help those who are less fortunate get a grip on life and become productive citizens.
All nine of his books: “Ready for the next round: Tapping the Power Within”, “Ready for the next round: Tapping the Power Within”, Second Edition, “A Bed Stuy Story: Triumph Over Adversity,” “Working My Way Back: A Guide for Ex-Offenders Seeking Employment,” “Bengalville: The Struggle to Survive,” “Revenge of a Stolen Brain,” “Emma Jeanne and Ralph: A Dramatic Tale About African American Folklore In The Old South”, and “Rasheed and the 6th Wife” all carry a message of hope and have become a ministry for Mr. Hamilton.
In addition to writing, he speaks to both men and women who are incarcerated, living at the Salvation Army, and/or halfway houses carrying the message self-empowerment and how and where to get help. He also speaks to high school and college students about the meaning of success, leadership, the advantages and pitfalls of credit, and the principles of how to fail forward.
Mr. Hamilton also carries his message of hope through radio, television, Facebook, Twitter and other mass media outlets.
His free time is spent playing billiards, writing books, listening to and attending jazz concerts, visiting art museums and analyzing different works of art.
Maurice Hamilton, M.A.Ed. is a retired New York City High School Administrator, motivational speaker, entrepreneur, and author who reside in North Carolina.
His favorite sports are boxing, billiards, football and basketball.
His entrepreneurial experience includes being the owner of an engraving company, a TV & Radio Repair Service, and a Floor Installation & Maintenance Service.
As an Assistant Principal at August Martin High School, Mr. Hamilton supervised several programs:
› The Flight/Aviation Program where students actually learned how to fly an airplane. They develop enough experience to have at least one solo flight.
› The Art Program. In this program, students learned art history, how to analyze various types of art, a variety of drawing techniques and/or methods, and ceramics, and
› The Business Program. Within this program, students learned how to write cover letters, build resumes, construct business letters, use Microsoft word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Also, they learned how to find employment, how to dress for success, how to take an interview, how to write a thank you note to the interviewer, and budgeting, as well as how to keep a job.
› The Technology Program where students become computer literate, Technical Drawing/AutoCAD, and Electronics Theory/Applications.
