Book excerpt from: "Revenge of a Stolen Brain" (Page 31-32)
Sarah’s visit to the doctor gave them another reason to be excited. He looked at her with a big smile and shouted out the words she thought she would never hear: “You’re pregnant!”
“Wow! What a gift.” Sarah thought she had always wanted at least two children. She began to wonder if there was still time. After all, she was thirty-two years old. Ten weeks later, Sarah had her first ultrasound appointment and that was when the technician yelled, “You’re having twins!”
Sarah couldn’t have been happier. She was already making plans to take a leave from her job to be a full time mom. There was plenty of room for them in their big house and the big back yard. The schools and the community consisted of upper middle class people and the neighborhood was a great place to raise children. The sickness she was experiencing had seemed a curse, but it had turned out to be a huge blessing, above and beyond anything she had ever imagined.
Paul, on the other hand, had mixed feelings. He was very happy to have children to carry on his lineage, and he knew that kids would make his wife and the rest of the family happy. However, he did have a secret that no one in the family knew, not even Sarah. There were two people living inside his body. He thought, What if one or both of the boys act like Blue?
If this came to happen, it could threaten to change their social lives dramatically. Their white friends were not so eager to accept black people and their culture.
