This story gives a glimpse of the life and the tragic death of a bald eagle and the lessons we can learn from it.
The Tragic Death of a Bald Eagle, Bullet learned his life’s role from his parents. First, he learned to conquer his fears. He faced any and every challenge with the expectations that he would be the victor. He was just as fearless when flying alone or when flying with other eagles. Secondly, he learned to never fly with other birds, like pigeons, crows, or any bird that was not an eagle. These birds are considered scavengers and are not in the same class as the eagle. Eagles are bred to be the king of the sky.
When Bullet met Shenna, they knew they were a match and wanted a future together. This story, The Tragic Death of a Bald Eagle chronicles their fun filled and not so funny journey until Bullet meets his Tragic end.
This is a joyful read that gives the reader a glimpse of the life’s journey of the bald eagle. I learned so many fascinating things about eagles that I did not know. After reading this book, I can see why they are considered, “The King of the birds in the sky”.
“This unique story gets straight to the point and packs a punch from page to page.”

Book excerpt from: "The Tragic Death of a Bald Eagle"
Chapter 1
The spring of 1991 breeding season in Illinois had begun. Bullet and Shenna had developed a strong relationship over a two-year period and an urgent desire to perpetuate the species. They decided it was time to start a family of their own. They flew over the city of Chicago in search of a suitable nesting place. They found a giant, beautiful, tall red oak tree on the Southside and decided that it was the right place to build a big strong nest for their family. The oak tree was old, yet strong, with a six-foot circumference at the base and a height of seventy-five feet above ground, a perfect spot to build the nest.
Bullet and Shenna built their nest in a branch perched toward the top of the tree. Working closely together, they meticulously stacked and interwove sticks and branches to create a rather large bulky nest for their future chicks. The center of the nest was lined with soft materials like moss, twigs, and feathers. It took them a couple of months to build the type of nest they hoped would be their permanent home base.
During their pursuit of a romantic relationship, Shenna and Bullet engaged in several courting rituals which enabled them to build an unbreakable bond as mates. They had even done the dangerous “cartwheel courtship flight dance,” which is one of the traditional courtship rituals where they fly up high in the sky, lock talons and then go into a cartwheel spin, as they fall toward the earth, breaking apart at the last minute before hitting the ground. These types of activities helped to cement their relationship as mates for life.
The lovebirds had finally built their nest and the time had come for them to copulate and start their family. They started spending more time in the nest together and when Sheena was ready, she let Bullet know by calling to him and bowing. Once they started to mate, they did it several times a day.
